Our family was able to get off of our little island for a few days and take a vacation to a nearby country (pictures of that country to come soon). However, in order to get to that country we had to drive through Saudi Arabia. We've taken this trip and we were thankful that this trip went much smoother and we really enjoyed ourselves! It helps that we were able to stay with some American friends and were able to explore the country with them!!
In Saudi I have to stay covered... I took this picture mainly to show you Karis' reaction when I put on my outfit... she just doesn't understand and doesn't respond well to women wearing all black!
Ok... so this may not be much to some of you... but to those of us living on a very flat island this is so nice to see!
Driving is dangerous in Saudi.... some roads have lanes, some don't, it doesn't really matter any way bc no one follows rules anyway! We actually had it happen multiple times where someone from the far right lane (possibly 5 lanes over) would make a U-Turn to the left...Yikes!
Here is another reason its dangerous.... these are everywhere... countdowns to let you know how long you have till the light will change. It goes both ways... when its red it tells you how long you have till you can go!
Here the kids are eating at a McDonalds.... most places are very private and have curtains so that families and especially ladies can eat without being seen. There are even entrances just for men and just for families.
We were able to drive out through some villages to find this mountain....
And do some exploring in a cave.... Corey was determined to get us stuck and Karis wasn't a happy camper with this stunt !
Oh yes.... not exactly an outfit I would personally pick out to wear to explore a cave.... but a must in Saudi!
Everyone thought it was pretty funny to see if they could get the pregnant lady stuck!!

Poor Karis...she looked somewhat unhappy about her Mama's outfit. Actually, that was priceless!!! And Eli was definitely on top of the world standing on top of that huge rock. The mountains were fascinating! But those spaces in between made me a little claustrophobic. Glad you all had a good time.
